Since its inception Pakistan is facing numerous challenges including socio, economic, environmental and political instability. The recent addition of terrorism has further destabilized the country. Pakistan is basically struggling to maintain its identity of peaceful co-existence with the global society. The poverty is on the rise and the social fabric already trembling. With such an alarming situation the efforts of DEWA may be viewed a small contribution, nevertheless in the long run it will have lasting impacts on the society as a whole And particularly the communities it is directly working with. DEWA has made a significant progress towards achieving set targets in the year 2010. Organizational systems and procedures have evolved and an image for the organization has built which has provided it an opportunity to build on as a forward looking institution. The Board appreciates the efforts of the management as it burnt mid night oil to materialize the vision of the organization throughout the year 2010. We are particularly thankful to all the stakeholders including communities and organizations, who extended their all out cooperation and demonstrated trust in DEWA capabilities to accomplish the set targets. DEWA has a knowledge based women focused program. Research being central human resource development is a key approach of the organization. The organization will continue to build on this trend and strive to bring a big change within society. The year 2010 remained as a trend setting year for the organization as we were able to accomplish a lot at institutional and field implementation levels. To quote a few, we were able to prepare a three years organizational Strategic Plan 2011-2013. Introduction of energy efficient technology with around 200 households and completion of 50 housing units in the year 2010 Introduction of energy efficient smoke free stoves in more than 700 households Promotion of eco tourism and introducing 'Floating Hut' at Baluchistan Lake Training of 75 NGO professionals, CBO activists. Linkages with government line departments and vaccination of around 3,400 animals Introduction of micro irrigation drip system on five acres land of poor farmers. DEWA management is well aware of a thousand miles journey in the development field. In order to achieve its vision the tiny steps will help set the direction; which it has already taken forward. In the forthcoming year 2011 DEWA is setting a new milestone towards achieving its goals.
